DAY FOUR UPDATE: Well it’s official. We now have two US Opens. This one reminds me of how the US Open in Huntington USED to be, when you saw many companies down on the beach jockeying each other to try to do the most creative advertising, capture the most attention or generally make the most impact with the thousands of potential consumers (kids) that are looking for a good time. This was all apart of HB before the Nike era, when a company came into our action sports industry and basically bought their way into cool. Ironic how one coast has a winner which gets $100,000 and another has a team rider getting $3500.

Heck even, the extra “hip”retro longboarders that Vans paid just to show up were getting $4000 for first place. (I thought contests weren’t hip anyways?) The overall event was really great to be apart of as most of the people on the beach had never been to something that big before. Skate vert ramps, FMX demos and twin stages with bands and bikini contests. There was even a large section down the beach for skimboard competition and tournament ‘cornholers’. I highly recommend booking your ticket for next year as this is a sight you’re going to want to see firsthand! We’ll see you there!

Special thanks to D and the entire crew from Costal Edge for growing the event and making it possible!
– CHECK BACK WITH US NEXT WEEK FOR AN ENTIRE VIDEO RECAP!

DAY THREE UPDATE: Yesterday was the peak of the turkey season. Every funny, crazy, and amazing thing you can imagine seeing on the beach… was down here. First street at Virginia Beach brings all kinds of oddities, and there was some good surfing mixed in there as well. The surf was solid and overhead (another oddity), the weather was hot, but not death scorching. All in all, the day was great! Tens of thousands collected themselves along the shoreline to all get a look at each other.

It seems like many of these teenagers were intense/frantic for one reason or another, and when I asked one of the contest organizers why we were seeing so many fights and angry kids he replied, Monster energy. Makes sense. Gorkin is looking good for another title as a few of our other hopefuls got knocked out of competition. Anyway, everyone is coming down the home stretch as Sunday is the last day of fun and usually symbolizes the near end of Summer here in VB. A full report will be filed Monday and next week we’ll see an amazing video wrap up of all the shenanigans. Check the newly updated photos, which are only a fraction of everything that is here to see!

DAY TWO UPDATE: It’s getting hot in here.. You would think they couldn’t cram any more kids into one spot, but it seems they’ve come from near and far… and very far to check out this years ECSC. Our team rider Ian Bloch lost out in some wind driven sloppy surf so he spent the rest of the day spray painting peeps with the crew…(poor guy). The main mens division kicks in tomorrow morning. There was a really shit house tow at session today but a few kids were able to throw a punt or two. We’re all taking a breather before the big party tonight, then ready for another round battle tomorrow.. Keep checking back to see if your friends made it onto the web photo gallery..or just to find stuff you like to look at!

DAY ONE UPDATE: We really don’t consider Wednesday the first day, even though the first heats of surfing started then.. Ian Bloch made it through some heats today, but most of our better surfers are seated till Saturday. Gorkin spent his lay day helping us spray stencil anything that moved, while Nick Guillarte and Jody Davis ran point on the two tents. Ultimate stud and staff employee Chad Shetler rocked the DJ  responsibilities and was nicknamed ‘the Champ of Stamps’.

The stirred up crowd got into some fights, including a couple girls captured in the photo section mid brawl! A total of about 30,000 peeps must have either been stamped, spray logoed or just filtered through the fun today..and it isn’t even the weekend yet! The crew at Costal Edge have grown this thing into a full blown circus, rivaling that of the US Open. If you’re anywhere near here you got to get down for the next few days, but if you’re stuck somewhere else, check back online to see how our the shenanigans and if Gorkin goes on to defend his title!

Check out the 2010 ECSC photo gallery here and see if you made it on the website. The gallery is open to you guys to send us your pics as well so upload your funniest, craziest, weirdest pics from ECSC and you might win a prize pack! 3 Lucky people who post the best photo, as determined by us, will receive a prize pack! So get those iPhones ready, link up to the lostenterprises.com site with your facebook, and make us laugh, cry, or scream if you wanna win some free gear!

Girl fights already!

Duke’s Big Wednesday Grand Finale

the Duke’s Big Wednesday finale took place August 25th at their location in Malibu Ca.  The night was topped with Common Sense performing live to a group of about 150 people who came out to support the cause and help raise money for surf related charities like Surfer’s Healing, Life Rolls On, theraSURF & Safety Harbor Kids foundations.  There was a huge selection of big ticket items being raffled off throughout the night which included …Lost DVD’s, Shirts, Hats, Bags and More.

The bar was rocking serving $2 beers and $3 vodka with your favorite …Lost energy drink.  All proceeds from the raffle were donated to help surf based charities and the party helped to spread awareness of what surfing can bring to others in need.  We were also joined by Miss California who showed up and spent the entire time looking for a missing Ryan Simmons…  But don’t worry she got plenty of attention from all the other dudes there.

Big thanks to Dukes for letting us take part of Big Wednesday!

Plenty of ...Lost energy drink and tacos were consumed

Ox wishes he was a pro surfer!

Toyota Surfercross 2010 presented by Muscle Milk did not disappoint! The Surfercross is always a fun event, pairing together athletes from two completely different sports of surfing and motocross. I don’t think either sport really helps to train for the other, and when you get these guys together it is very apparent! This is how it works–pro surfer draws a random pro moto rider’s name out of a hat and that is their partner for the next 2 days of debauchery!

Words by Jeff “OX” Kargola

Day 1 went down at Starwest for the motocross portion of the event, which is comprised of 2 motos. In moto 1 the professional moto riders start and complete one lap, then they have to find their pro surf partner on the track and hand off a wristband for the surfer to ride 1 lap around the track…over and over…and that’s how it goes down. 1 lap for moto guy and 1 lap for surf guy until all laps are completed. Same scenario for 2nd moto but with the pro surf guys taking the start gate…which was COMEDY!!! Some of the teams included Josh Grant/Sunny Garcia, Ronnie Faisst/Nathan Fletcher, Ox/Kealii Mamalla, JCR Honda’s Johnny Campbell, Eric Siraten, Kendall Norman. Trigger Gumm/ ummmm can’t seem to remember that one haha. Day one was great, Wahoos hooked up the grinds and everyone made it out relatively unscathed. The score keeping was slightly suspect and we all enjoyed Cameron Steele making fun of just about everyone on the Mic.

Day 2 of Surfercross took us to my very own backyard in San Clemente! Trail 6 in San Clemente hosted the surf contest portion which was more comedy! The weather was beautiful, water was warm, Wahoos and Muscle Milk kept our bellies full and, yet again, Cameron Steele was on the mic making fun of everyone! Only problem with the surf was that it never really made an appearance, which I’m pretty sure the moto guys didn’t have a problem with. Some of the funniest surfing attempts had to have been the ones made by JGR’s Josh Grant! He decided to ride my partner Kealii’s stand up paddle board minus the paddle and took some good diggers! But with a little help from his world champ partner Sunny Garcia he soon found his zone and got a few waves under his belt. One of the biggest surprises to me had to be the skill that Jersey Shore himself Ronnie Faisst had! This guy actually knows how to surf! After the first round of heats, Faisst actually had the highest score of all the pro motocross riders which was a shocker ’cause, well, I figured I had a couple good ones. The waves really weren’t cooperating but everyone was still glad to be at the beach. Little did they all know, that very same day less than a mile down the beach there was footage taken of 2 great white sharks swimming in the surf! Check out the video below…it’s crazy! Ya, I bet they still don’t know they were literally on the menu!

With the contest wrapped it was the team of Josh Grant/Sunny Garcia taking the overall win! I took 3rd in Pro Surf and 4th overall. I really don’t care about the other results so good luck with knowing what they were. I know one thing though, next year when it comes time for X Games and the US Open of surf in Huntington Beach, I’ll have a giant smile on my face knowing that its time for more SURFERCROSS!!!!!!!! Thanks J Bone, you made it happen yet again!

…LOST at the U.S. Open

The 2010 U.S. Open of Surfing has officially wrapped up in Huntington Beach California. Brett Simpson took out Jordy Smith in the open Men’s to take the win for a second year in a row, and another $100,000 check to hang over the fireplace. Carrissa Moore took down Sally Fitzgibbons to take the open Women’s, while Evan Geiselman beat out Alejo Muniz, Miguel Pupo, and Kolohe Andino for the Pro Jr’s first place spot. Sage Erikson took first in the women’s Pro Jr. beating out Malia Manuel, Coco Ho, and Laura Enever.

The …Lost crew had their hands full holding it down in the …Lost zone during the US Open. Our booth was packed everyday with some amazingly nice looking girls who wanted to get stenciled and meet the various team riders hanging out throughout the event. Over all we sprayed about 100,000 logos on kids, girls, bros, moms, dogs, skateboards, and anything else anyone brought us. We were hooking up the crowd with free …Lost surfboard hats, key chains, and we had our grand prize giveaways of 2 brand new …Lost surfskates! Thanks to everyone who came by our zone and hung out with us, and to all the pretty ladies who helped make the event an amazing time for anyone who was there!

Jeff OX Kargola X-Games Video

Check out these insane clips of …LOST team rider Jeff OX Kargola competing in the 2010 X-Games 16 in the Freestyle Moto-X and The Moto-X step up. In The Freestyle Moto-X, Ox just destroyed it, but missed the cut by two. Deegan  dropped out of the step up, which opened the door for OX being 1st alternate on the list.
The step up finals, Ox was clearing the bar by a lot! Maybe too much, because he crashed twice in a row after clearing the bar. Unfortunately, if you crash even when you clear the bar it doesn’t count, so Ox was out.
Check the clips Of Ox X-Games 16 below.

…Lost U.S. Open of Surfing Party

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Gallaghers Pub in Downtown Huntington Beach for the …Lost U.S.Open of Surfing party Wednesday night. The place was packed and the Pyramid pitchers were flowing while the Red Devil Squadron tore up the stage and amped up the crowd! Tons of San Clemente locals made it out to hang with the HB boys for a night of drinking, rock n’ roll, and good times in Downtown.

Unfourtunately the HB Police deceided that the …Lost US Open Bikini Contest was to much of a riot risk and interfered with new downtown regulations… so the man shut us down! The poor bikini girls were crushed to learn they weren’t going to get a chance to strut their stuff due to Johnny Law. Better luck next year though and maybe by then the rules will change again and allow us to have some more fun.

Thanks to Andrew at Gallaghers for letting the crew get wild, 17th St. Surf Shop, Pyramid Breweries for hooking it up, and Red Devil Squadron for rocking the house! See you at mext year’s …Lost US Open party!

The …Lost summer party officially blew the lid off of the OC Tavern Friday July 30th! The concert hall was packed with plenty of local love, die hard band fans, industry peeps, and average joes. The bands fired up the energy and kept the crowd dancing, sweating, moshing, and raging well into the night. The kids in Raw Helmet kicked it off with an energetic set reminscent of the germs as the lead singer threw himself across the stage while belting out lyrics to the crowd. Dead Man Walking tore it up with thier set and raised the crowds froth level to just below chaos before the Red Devil Squadron came in to top off the night and end the show!

Even some of the team riders including Wardo and Gorkin made it out to get in the pit and throw a couple back with the crew. Thanks to everyone who made it out to party with team …Lost and the bands, and a special thanks to the OC Tavern for letting us rage the night away on their dance floor.

Jeff probably wishes he was racing in the desert somewhere or even pulling into barrels surfing, but alas, sometimes you gotta pay the bills and OX still can flip twist and fly higher and farther than most other dudes out there.. Hell, if he would focus his time on freestyle moto instead of all the other shit he likes doing, like growing hair, he’d probably metal or win every event he entered!..
