Mason tried to go too big and went down to Davey Cathels. A good resuld, non-the-less.
Mason Ho has advanced and is surfing at 10:30 am (Sri Lankan time) or 10:00 pm (PST) in the round of 16 at the Sri Lankan Airlines Pro.
6/22/2010: Mason Ho has advanced to the round of 16 and into the man-on-man heats of the 6 Star WQS in Sri Lanka. The wave at this event is really good, a long right point that breaks right off the beach. The wave allows the surfers to really let loose and showcase the kind of surfing they are capable of. Mason has been letting loose, to say the least, in this contest. His combination of soul arch floaters (check video below) and blowtail reverses had the commentators saying he’s been the most entertaining surfer of the event. Mason surfs against Aussie Davey Cathels in heat 8 when competition resumes and according to the ASP site, “Hawaii’s flamboyant Mason Ho is also through and he’ll no doubt delight in the larger waves forecast.” In other, totally unrelated competitive news, Mason’s best friend and …Lost rider Cheesburger is still going in the Ala Moana WQS today.
TJ Barron wearing a hat during his heat was pretty entertaining too. We’re guessing it’s really really hot over there.
Here are a couple more pics of …Lost rider James Wood and …Lost Surfboards rider Richard Christie.
