Big Baja Malibu with Ox and Trigger

Everybody loves the first big winter swell of the year. You pull out your big board, figure out where your going to surf, set the alarm as you fall asleep thinking about how big the waves are going to be. I got a phone call from our moto team riders, Jeff (OX) Kargola, and Trigger Gumm. They asked me if I wanted to go down to Baja Malibu for some tow-ins. Crossing the boarder these days is kind of sketchy with all the people getting robbed but this swell was going one to remember and well worth the mission.

We got down there around 8:30am and the waves where the biggest I’ve seen around here in a long time. They were big enough for me to say, “I’ll be the photographer for the day and get the shot!” On one ski was both Mike Mouer, and Rich Niggeman-both have surfed their whole life. On the other, was Ox and Trigger. Both ride motorcycles for a living, but growing up in San Clemente, they’ve surfed enough to stand up behind a ski and let go of the rope.

Check the footage and photos of Ox, Trigger, Mike Mouer, and Rich Niggeman letting go of the rope at Baja Malibu..
